    Forms for you and me!

Alright folks congratulations on making it through the first week of the Grifball Summer Season! I apologize I've been slow on updating, I've been working on something that I think you will all dig the crap out of. Anyway, I have made a few tweaks to the way you guys submit Highlights and Disputes.

First and foremost, if you sent in a Dispute for Week 1, I'm looking over all of them and I should have a ruling by the end of tonight on your submissions. That being said, the way you claim a dispute is changing. Instead of emailing me, you will fill out the following form to COMPLETION:

    Grifball Dispute Form

Any form that is not 100% complete will not be considered. Also, only CAPTAINS should be submitting dispute inquiries. No one else on the team.

On to HIGHLIGHTS. A few of you folks just emailed me with a link to your fileshare with "Here is my highlight1!!!111!one" in your email. I need a bit more than that...so you get another submission form!

    Grifball Highlights Form!

Again, only complete entries will be considered for the highlight reel. Speaking of which, work has begun on the Week 1 highlights and the submission deadline for Week 2 (and every other week) is Sunday at Midnight. Keep your eyes out for the highlights to be showing up on Tuesday or Wednesdays or whenever I can get them done!

Last, and certainly not least is your opportunity to play Grifball in front of a live (internet) audience. I present to you the form to sign up for Someday Night Grifball!

    Someday Night Grifball Sign-Up Form!

More details about Someday Night Grifball can be found in this thread, and just a reminder, if you choose to play Someday Night Grifball you surrender your right to challenge a game based on lag. I'm still looking forward to a few great matches live though!

That pretty much does it for this update, enjoy the forms, use them properly and they will be your (and my) friend. Have fun out there!

    DoubleXP weekend is upon us!

Alright folks, we are currently in the midst of a DoubleXP weekend for Grifball in Halo 3. Get your XP on! Have fun and remember, you are representing the league when you are out there, so don't be douches.

Don't forget to submit your highlights for week 1 (Ginger Edit: UK highlights to meeeeeeeeeeeee). They are due at midnight Sunday! So far pretty much all has been going well. For those teams looking to join the league late to replace teams that are getting cut, there is a lot of hope for you. It looks like I'll be needing a few replacements here shortly. Keep an eye on Grifball.com for more info.

Get out there and have fun folks!

First Week So Far and an Explosion

The first part of week in the UK league has gone relatively smoothly, with only one match having to be played and there are plenty of rookie teams getting themselves.

Rental metards were able to win their first game of the league 9-0 and Grif Sport Elite have won both their games, although a close 5-4 struggle against Tea(m) Baggers may result in a rematch

There do seem to be a fair few internet problems, which may have something to do with BT messing around with phonelines, so make sure you're patient about lag and try and account for all situations

In other news, the third episode (and first in-season) of the UK Grifball Explosion will be tomorrow, saturday, at 7pm GMT, with guest Praetorian PHD, captain of FC5-UK. The explosion can be found here, you can download past episodes as well.

    Summer League is Open!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Grifball Summer League 2008 has begun!

Tonight starts our first round of matches, I expect you guys all to kick some ass. I'll be around if anyone needs help tonight. For the rookies, enjoy yourself. If you have any questions, first, check the F.A.Q., and then ask me if you are still confused on an issue. There are also plenty of Legacy guys around you can ask for help. They will be helpful or else I will come down on them with the might of my rubber hose.

    Bungie.net is not down!

Bungie.net is running a countdown for an announcement at E3, so the main page is a bit weird, but if you are looking to report games, click on the link above! This will take you to the normal Bungie page we all love.

Good luck to everyone who plays this season! Have a great time, I love this game!

    UK Summer league has begun!

PLEASE NOTE: There has been a last minute change in the league. American team xIGPx has been cut as they're listed an American team and did not get back to me on this and have been replaced with a UK team. As a result the schedule for division 4 may be a little different

All teams can now begin thier games for the UK League. The summer has begun. All of your matches can be found over on the schedule page here

Matches 1 and 2 are to be played in week one, so contact the captains you're playing and arrange a time. If you havn't been able to arrange a time by friday then let me know. If you don't have a match 1 or a match 2, then you have a bye and will only need to play one match this week.

For those Uk and European teams who still want to get in the league, make yourself heard, because teams may be cut, so the earlier you tell me you want in, the better chance you have!

    More European Teams needed

There's an FAQ below this, which may be important for some of you, but I have another important announcement for the time being.

We're looking for at least 2 more rookie European teams to enter the "UK" league, as there have been a couple of teams that have signed up for both leagues and such been disqualified from the one they're not supposed to be in.

If you're a European team and you're interested, send an e-mail to gingerlink@grifball.com with your team name and team URL (on grifball.com). Once we get these teams in, I can do the scheduling for the rookie part of the league, so we can get started tomorrow!

If you're not one of the first two teams that send me the e-mail, don't worry as there may be early dropouts, so you may still be able to get in the league after it's started

    FAQ About the Upcoming Season!

We are just a couple of days away from the opening of the Grifball Summer League, and I am here to answer a few questions people have been asking me. If you have a question you want answered, go to the comments and ask there. If it is a good one, I'll post it here answered.

Note: If you're in the UK league, a couple of alterations to these can be found here . For the UK league, disputes and highlights should be sent to gingerlink@grifball.com
Q: How do I know who I am supposed to play?

A: Your games are to be played at the time you registered your team for. For example, if you are in the rookie division 14, you would ALWAYS play your games Wednesday at 10:00pm CST. Every week you will play TWO GAMES against a scheduled opponent.

To check who you are supposed to be playing, click on the SCHEDULE link on the left side of Grifball.com. Then select your conference towards the top of the page. Then you can click on MY TEAM'S MATCHES and see every game you are supposed to play this season.

You will play your matches in order. In week 1, you will play your first two games, week 2, games 3 and 4...etc.

Q: How do I contact the captain of the other team?

A: When you visit your team's schedule, you can click on the name of the opposing team, that will take you to that team's homepage. The captain is listed on that page. You can then follow the link to the captain's player page to see how they prefer to be contacted. My recommendation is that you add the opposing captain's gamertag to your friends list to make it easier.

Q: Do captain's have to play in every game?

A: Captain's DO NOT have to play in every match, but if a captain is not going to be around for their weekly scheduled matches, they need to let the opposing teams know who is in charge in their leave.

    Q: How do I report a game?

A: The captain of the WINNING TEAM will report the game in this way. Go back to your team's schedule, find the game that you are reporting and click "Report Match" on the right side. On that page you will paste the game summary from Bungie.net and also select which team was which color. This will import the records from Bungie into our database and keep track of your stats as the season progresses.

Q: Who gets to be host during our games?

A: For the first five matches of the season, the team that is alphabetical first will send the invite to the opposing captain. For your last five matches of the season, the alphabetically last team will send invites. Here's a pro-tip though, it honestly does not matter at all who is the party leader, host is selected by strongest connection, not who is party leader.

Q: What if I have a dispute about a match? (Lag, cheating, etc...)

A: Send an email to grifball@roosterteeth.com explaining in detail what the problem with the game was. Also include a link to the results page on Bungie.net as well as a link to your fileshare that contains video from the game. Disputed matches will be reviewed by the Commish or a council of Team Captain's to decide if the game needs to be replayed or not.

Q: What if I have a highlight I want to submit from my game?

From the original FAQ, still good today:

Only team captains should be submitting highlights to the league. The league is just too big to open up submissions to the all players. The highlight link does not have to be from the captain, so you can cut and prepare your own clip and give it to your team captain for submission. When a captain is submitting a clip he/she should submit the following information.

Week of League Play for the Highlight:
      Team Name:
      Division and Conference:
      Submitter's Gamertag:
      Opponent's Name:
URL to the Clip in your file share:
      Slot #:
      Clip Name:
      A brief description:
      URL To Bungie Game Results:
      Which team was Red/Blue:

All highlights should be submitted to highlights@grifball.com and remember no films please. Only clips. Also, for the purposes of editing it is always better to leave 5 extra seconds before and after the neat stuff that happens in your highlight so we can edit it properly. There is no guarantee we will use your highlight, release the highlights at a certain time/day or even make a highlight reel for that matter.

Q: Will there be a prize for winning our league?

A: There will be some kind of prize for the winners of the American Leagues. Not sure yet.

Q: How are teams selected to be in the playoffs?

A: The top two teams from every division (in the rookie league) will advance to a 64 team playoff. It will be a single-elimination bracket to determine the ultimate winner of the Grifbowl.

Q: Where can I find the times for the Legacy League?

    A: Right here

Q: I am kind of confused about the 2 games a week thing so we play 1 game then a nother right after on our perfered day or?

A: You you play your first match, and as soon as that game is over, contact the captain of the second team you are to play and immediately set up your second match.

    Q: What do I do if a team is a no-show?

A: Do your absolute best to contact a team captain via XBox Live, via email (on Grifball.com) or via Rooster Teeth. If that team is a no-show, email me with the name of the team you were supposed to play. I'll then attempt to contact the team, otherwise the game will be forfeited to the team who was online.

Q: Does "The" in a team's name count alphabetically?

A: No, THE does not count towards deciding who is party leader for a game. So, "The Alphas" would be alphabetically "Alphas"

Q: What's this "network test" thing I've heard about?

A: The Network test is an oddball gametype to be played on the Grifball Court to test lag issues before a game. In fact, every match should begin with a network test to determine is lag will be a big enough issue during the official game. The network test is available in the Grifball file share.

Q: Is it possible to sit in on the game, and watch it live?

A: There is an event called "Someday Night Grifball" that allows for people to watch games live via a website like Justin.tv. I will be making a longer post about Someday Night Grifball later this week.
Good luck everyone this season, I hope all goes well!

We have a NEW vacancy in the Legacy League

    UPDATED!!!

We are looking for another team to replace a legacy team! Division 5 Thursday - 8:00pm!

Hey folks, we are just three short days away from the official start of the Grifball Summer League and I come to you looking for either:

A.) A legacy team that hasn't signed up yet

    or

B.) A rookie team with balls. (I like balls.)

Here's the deal, we had a team from Division 5 of the Legacy League (Thursday - 8:00pm) drop out...and now we need to replace that team. So, this leaves an opportunity open for you.

The first team willing to replace this THURSDAY @ 8:00PM CST team that e-mails me with the subject line "WE HAVE THE BALLS," a link to your Grifball.com team's page and a couple lines about why I should trust you to man up and take on the big leagues, will be in.

You know what, if any of you rookie teams already in the rookie league are interested in moving up...feel free to take a shot. I've got about 6 teams dieing to get in the Summer League and we still have a few more days to move stuff around if need-be.

So, there you go folks, who's up for one hell of a challenge?
